Q. How can I obtain a copy of a report?

Q: If I am a new resident in Maine, how long do I have to renew my driver's license,
      registration and/or inspection sticker?


Q: I received a traffic citation, how long do I have to send in the fine payment?

A: You can either come to the station to request a copy of the report you need, or  fill out the Report Request Form provided on our forms page. The cost for reports  are: Accident Reports - $5.00; All others - $5.00 for the first page,
and $1.00 for every page after; $35.00 for videotapes.

A: Yes, we fingerprint citizens of Eliot at the police department free of charge. An appointment is not necessary, but if possible, we prefer you to call the station ahead of time to ensure that there will be an officer available.

A: You have 30 days from the time your inspection sticker expires to get your
vehicle inspected; however, we encourage you to renew it right away. If the
vehicle doesn't have an inspection sticker, it needs to be inspected immediately. You can obtain a permit to drive an uninspected vehicle to an inspection station through the Eliot Police Department. You need to provide your driver's license, registration and also proof of insurance. The permit expires two (2) days  from the day it is issued and can only be used to drive to the inspection station.
*We will not issue any permits for vehicles that are unsafe to drive.

A: If the vehicle's registration is expired, you have 30 days to get the vehicle's
registration renewed. You can obtain a permit from the police department, given
you provide your license, proof of insurance, and your expired registration
paperwork. The permit is only valid for two (2) days. If the registration has been
expired for more than 150 days, you can obtain a permit to tow the vehicle. This
permit is not valid for operation. However, if your vehicle has never been
registered, you must obtain registration immediately. We cannot issue permits
for this instance. You can register your vehicle through the Eliot Town Hall.
Otherwise, you may obtain a temporary registration through the Bureau of Motor
Vehicles.

A: You have thirty (30) days from the time you become a Maine resident to renew  your license and registration. If you have an out-of-state inspection sticker, you do not need to get your car inspected in Maine until your current sticker expires.  If you do not have an inspection sticker, you must get your vehicle inspected immediately. You may obtain more information on becoming a Maine resident through the State of Maine website
