The Eliot Police Department, serving a population of approximately 6,200, is seeking an experienced supervisor to join our team as a Police Sergeant.
Eliot Police has an excellent reputation with our residents, and consequently, this candidate must be community oriented, highly motivated and possess strong leadership skills.
The ideal candidate for our team will have previous supervisory experience must be capable of gaining the trust and respect of the staff, provide clear direction and be a good listener. The selected candidate will hold staff accountable while treating employees with respect. Also, the successful candidate will possess strong mentoring and coaching skills and be committed to continuous improvement through employee development.
Recommended Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience: Minimum of an Associate’s degree or sixty (60) credit hours in criminal justice or a related field. Minimum three to five (3-5) years of progressive, responsible law enforcement experience as a supervisor; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Special Requirements: Valid Motor Vehicle Operator License; Graduate of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy or equivalent as a full-time police officer. As a condition of employment, must submit to an extensive background investigation, including psychological, polygraph, and medical examinations as part of the process.
